we are all in this together
The United Nations designated 2010 as international year of biodiversity. The European Commission declared it as a top priority since 1 in 6 mammal species are threatened with extinction in the EU. The loss of biodiversity could have catastrophic consequences on all living creatures, we’ve probably never considered how much we are connected. And still few people are engaged to preserve it.
These reasons encouraged the European Commission to hire advertising agency Ogilvy to create a campaign to raise awareness, educate the general public and engage with citizens on the subject of biodiversity. Amsterdam was chosen (out of 6 EU countries that will host the event) to launch the campaign ‘we are all in this together’. PR agency de Wolven organized the kick-off and asked me as a local Eco-artist to create an artpiece using Green Graffiti, this graffiti technique uses only a template and a high pressure water sprayer to clean a message on the dirty streets.
National newspaper De Telegraaf published an article about the campaign (see picture 4).
AD ZER0
AD ZER0 is an initiative to stimulate the whole advertising industry to act climate-neutral. Good old friend Aart van Veller initiated this movement together with MTV Networks, Discovery Networks and Czar. They asked me to design a ‘stamp of approval’ that could be displayed: after every TV commercial- on top of every print-campaign insight every online banner that is produced climate neutral. The brands can show their responsibility for the environment whilst compensating for their CO2 emissions.I developed the Logo which contains the ‘stamp of approval’ (single: 0+). The concept behind the logo is simple: This AD (abbreviation for advertisement) ADds zero CO2 to the climate and that is a big plus for the environment, secondly it communicates positive exposure for brands. I hope the industry will ADd this big plus to their working standards so they will decrease their CO2 emissions back to zero.

Yasuní-ITT video animation project
I was involved in this video animation about the Yasuní-ITT, a remarkable project from Ecuador that proposes a new alternative to avoid oil extraction in the Yasuní National Park. Good friend Santiago del Hierro was the initiator, I did some designwork and Rogier Wieland was overall artdirector.

The suikerdepot identity Martin and I made together during my internship was nominated for a DDA in the category ‘best corporate identity’. (these pictures where shot by Martin and Uwe)
