Waste

In one of the assignments during my education at the art academy we had to create an image of 50×100 cm showing a piece of garbage. We had to combine this image with a randomly chosen sentence from a book. I opened a dictionary and pointed out a sentence with my eyes closed: ‘These domains don’t exist apart from each other’, a nice coincidence since both worked fine together.

Related Items

In my first year at the academy we got the assignment to make a booklet showing a relationship that some random items could have. I stamped every item in an ink pad and created an 2D image out of them. The differences in surface of the objects represents the relationship from a very dark image to a really light visualization. The objects where an; apple, a chair, one sock, a toothbrush, euro’s, a key, a paperclip, a plastic coffee mug, an envelope, a pen, plastic tape, a light bulp, a trash bag, a candle, a spoon, and a mirror.

Collage and Assamblage

In the first year of the academy we had to practice many techniques. Amongst them were the regular ones like painting and drawing. Inspired by Kurt Schwitters one of my favorite techniques was collage and assemblage images.

Fascination

In this assignment I had to discover and illustrate my fascination in life,
but what is my fascination?
A very interesting assignment, because it revealed the most inspiring thing in my life. After a month of work and discussion I found out that my fascination in life is to explore the unknown.

Empty glass bottles

During the first two years of my study at the Royal Academy of Fine Art’s in The Hague we took Photography as part of our course. One of the assignments given in the second year was to experiment with empty glass bottles in the photo studio.
